The Manzanola Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by La Veta on the road and fell 74-39. Manzanola was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-22.
When it comes to explaining why Manzanola lost, one person who can't be blamed is Canye Trujillo. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Trujillo scored a full 33.3% of Manzanola's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mark Holland was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 12 rebounds.
La Veta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Trey Medina out in front who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Tristan Musgrave, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds.
Manzanola's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for La Veta, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manzanola is on the road again on Thursday and play against Primero at 5:00 p.m. on December 14th. As for La Veta, they will square off against Hoehne at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hoehne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
