Everything went their way against Varsity Opponent on Friday as the Richfield Wildcats made off with a 19-3 win. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Mataiya Murray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Jerzy Moon was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addie Stewart was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Richfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Richfield moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Coming up, Richfield will be taking part in a tournament against Skyridge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Skyridge has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.38 runs per game on average), something Richfield will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Varsity Opponent, they will take on St. Martin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
