Tooele has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Stansbury Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Tooele came up short against Hillcrest and fell 54-47. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tooele in their matchups with Hillcrest: they've now lost five in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Crew Lewis, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ethan B rogers, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Stansbury pushed their score all the way to 63 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 79-63 bruising from Cottonwood. While losing is never fun, Stansbury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Cottonwood is ranked 32nd).
Tooele bumped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Stansbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.
Tooele didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Stansbury in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-51 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tooele since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
