Basketball Recap: St. George's Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

St. George came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Twiggs Academy Trojans as they made off with a 68-44 victory. St. George's has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.

St. George's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davis Helms, who posted 21 points. The match was Helms' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Westley Matlock-Carter, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

St. George's pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Twiggs Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

St. George's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-42 loss against Heritage Preparatory on the 12th. As for Twiggs Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-41 defeat against Flint River Academy on the 12th.
