They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 81-27 victory over Rocky Mountain Lutheran. Flatirons Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season.
Flatirons Academy found their leader in underclassman Pistol Chavez, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Chavez has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Parker Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: Gavin Borchardt dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Borchardt scored 15 or more points.
Flatirons Academy pushed their record up to 6-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flatirons Academy will take on Dayspring Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Dayspring Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Flatirons Academy is ranked 125th). As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Denver Waldorf at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
