The North Posey Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Sullivan Golden Arrows at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Posey is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Pike Central, posting a 50-6 win. The game marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season.
North Posey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bret Buecher, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Camden Clowers did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 43 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: North Posey was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 303 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sullivan won against West Vigo last Friday with 70 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Golden Arrows breezed past South Vermillion to the tune of 70-14. The Golden Arrows' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
North Posey better keep an eye on Clark French. He was instrumental in Sullivan's win, rushing for 171 yards and four TDs on only eight carries. French's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 149 rushing yards. Zane Catlin was in the mix as well, providing Sullivan with two scores.
Sullivan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ethan Garrett and William Hollifield.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Sullivan, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wyatt Epling, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
The win (which was Sullivan's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points over those games. As for North Posey, their record is now 7-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. North Posey has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 153.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sullivan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 221.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
