Brophy College Prep pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Corona del Sol cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brophy College Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlie McGinnis, who threw for 246 yards and a touchdown while completing 81.5% of his passes. Harrison Chambers and his 91 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Brophy College Prep's win.
Despite the defeat, Corona del Sol had strong showings from Raiden Vines-bright, who picked up 140 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Connor Ackerley, who threw for 250 yards and a touchdown. Vines-bright was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 66 yards.
The victory makes it two in a row for Brophy College Prep and bumps their season record up to 6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-6 Corona del Sol and 2-6 Desert Vista. As for Corona del Sol, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brophy College Prep will challenge Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Mountain Pointe is ranked 32nd, while Brophy College Prep is ranked 13th). As for Corona del Sol, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Vista is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
