After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vista PEAK Prep, the Erie Tigers were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They strolled past Bear Creek with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. That's another feather in the cap for Erie, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Callen Gebhardt was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Lee, who scored five points along with seven steals.
When it comes to explaining why Bear Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emilek Jallow. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Jallow set a new season high mark in steals with two. Alen Avdic was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Bear Creek struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Erie's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Bear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Erie will be home for the holidays to greet Frederick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: JJ Strojinc and Christopher Smith. As for Bear Creek, they will take on Loveland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Loveland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday.
