The East Carter Raiders proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 56) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 victory over Elliott County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for East Carter.
Kinsley Rutledge was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Savannah Adams was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
East Carter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Elliott County, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Carter will square off against Rowan County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully East Carter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Elliott County, they will head out on the road to challenge Bath County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
