Baseball Recap: Northwestern Snags Tenth Victory in Last 13 Games

Northwestern's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Rossville Hornets 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Chase DeWitt, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jax Hanson was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Northwestern is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Rossville, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will take on Maconaquah at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rossville, they will challenge Frontier at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hornets 3.8, the Falcons 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
