Freedom is 1-9 against Liberty since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Patriots will host the Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Freedom's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Louis E. Dieruff. The win was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on four straight.
The result came thanks to Darien Serrano's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Freedom let Patrick Kiefner and Michael Cobb run wild. Kiefner got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Cobb scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Cobb posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Kullman, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Liberty came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Canaries as they made off with a 7-1 victory.
Dylan Metzgar was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Adam Unangst was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Liberty's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Freedom, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Freedom hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Freedom came up short against Liberty in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Will the Patriots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
