Mount Greylock Regional is 0-7 against Greenfield since April of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Mounties will host the Green Wave at 4:15 p.m. Mount Greylock Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Mount Greylock Regional turned things around against Lee on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Wildcats.
Kaleigh Jaros made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Jaros was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Jaros wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mila Marcisz, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Kyleigh Cooper also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Greenfield faced Frontier Regional in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Green Wave blew past the Red Hawks 17-4. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Green Wave this season.
Like Mount Greylock Regional, Greenfield also got a great game from a two-way player: MacKenzie Paulin. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Paulin has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Bucala, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Lemay, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Greenfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frontier Regional only posted an OBP of .296.
Greenfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Mount Greylock Regional, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4.
