The Altamont Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 63-45 to Green River. If Altamont hoped to take revenge for the 61-54 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Altamont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grayson Panas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashton Arnold, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Green River got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luis Hernandez out in front who scored 21 points. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Raul Mendoza was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Altamont's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Green River, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Altamont will take on Tabiona at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tabiona will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Green River, they will be playing at home against Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Pinnacle is ranked 130th, while Green River is ranked 110th).
