Leggett is 8-2 against Burkeville since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Leggett Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Burkeville Mustangs at 4:00 p.m.
Leggett unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. Their rough 68-43 loss to Brookeland might stick with them for a while. Leggett was down 61-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joshua Perkins, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Jace Railey, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Burkeville had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Chester 61-39. The victory was just what Burkeville needed coming off of a 69-44 defeat in their prior matchup.
Leggett's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-8. As for Burkeville, their win bumped their record up to 10-16.
Everything came up roses for Leggett against Burkeville in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 87-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leggett since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
