I Section I recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Tolleson, who took down 115th ranked St. Mary's, 42-41. Justin Hanson in the win.
Central was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to eighth in I Section I. The Bobcats defeated North 34-33 earlier in the week.
The Knights' dynamic duo of Jeremiah Sullivan and Lukas Treffers proved tough for the Wolverines to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sullivan threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns and Treffers had 127 yards receiving. Jalen Young helped St. Mary's' passing attack out by catching four balls for 62 yards.
JT Moore made the biggest impact on defense this week as Valley Vista defeated Millennium. The 6-foot-0 junior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Jordan Mitchell was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 31 carries, he ran for 339 yards as Cibola lost to Tolleson. Teammate Lucky Arvizo added to the ground attack by rushing for 20 yards.
Todd Williamson's team's Gabe Losada and Treffers have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Losada has thrown for 1628 yards this season, while Treffers, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 87 catches for 1019 yards. Mitchell from the Raiders leads the league in rushing with 1460 yards.
The top two teams in I Section I will face off this week when first place Valley Vista takes on second place Westview. The Monsoon bested the Tigers last week, while Westview defeated Mountain Ridge.
Jason Wilke's team's Tramari Ealey needs only 24 yards against La Joya Community next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Ealey has rushed for 976 yards on 156 carries so far this year.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Knights take on Valley Vista. Westview's offense has scored 445 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Josh SeKoch's team has allowed only 96 on the year.

Valley Vista extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating George Martinez's team, 26-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Monsoon.
