Wesclin is 2-8 against Okawville since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wesclin Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Okawville Rockets at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Wesclin: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Okawville has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-25, which was the final score in Wesclin's tilt against Carlyle on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Wesclin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Carlyle is ranked 24th).
Okawville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 26 points or more this season. They blew past Sparta 67-26 on the road.
Alayna Kraus was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with six steals. The game was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Madisyn Wienstroer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Wesclin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Okawville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Wesclin took a serious blow against Okawville when the teams last played back in February, falling 57-27. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wesclin was down 29-8.
