The Columbus Cardinals lost against the Hallettsville Brahmas back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Columbus took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brahmas.
Loss or not, Columbus got some senior leadership from Sage Thomas and Karlee Mathis. Thomas scored nine points along with six rebounds, while Mathis. scored nine points along with five assists and two steals. Mathis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anaya Gardner, who scored 11 points.
Columbus' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9. As for Hallettsville, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 29-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will square off against the Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Hallettsville, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cobras at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Industrial is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
