It was a good run, but the Liberty Hill Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 33-23 to Pieper. While losing is never fun, Liberty Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Pieper is ranked 124th).
Although Liberty Hill took the loss, they still got scores from Garrett Lindgren, Jack Pitchford, and Ben Carter.
Even if they lost, Liberty Hill's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Pieper's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Jacob Morris was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Pieper found their leader in underclassman Brady Hopper, who rushed for 121 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Jake South, who threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns.
Liberty Hill's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Pieper, they have yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record.
Liberty Hill will be playing at home against Harlandale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pieper, they will face off against Sam Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sam Houston will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
