Gila Ridge has gone a perfect 6-0 against Youngker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Hawks will challenge the Roughriders at 6:00 p.m. Gila Ridge has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Youngker will come in with eight straight victories.
Gila Ridge's last matchup with Cibola could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Hawks lost 7-1 to the Raiders.
Gila Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derrick Parsons, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Youngker put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Kellis. The Roughriders blew past the Cougars 11-0. Considering the Roughriders have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
David Molina made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Enrique Cardenas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Riley Carteno, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Youngker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Youngker pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Gila Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
Gila Ridge took their win against Youngker when the teams last played back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
