Mississippi School for the Deaf was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in Mason-Dixon Deaf Football (8 Man). The Bulldogs vanquished Chamberlain-Hunt Academy 24-20 earlier in the week.
Mississippi School for the Deaf and the Wildcats played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Mississippi School for the Deaf eventually emerging with a 24-20 victory. Aldarius Trice ran for 121 yards in the win.
Tennessee School for the Deaf's dynamic duo of Ethan Swafford and Rashard Witherspoon proved tough for Louisiana School for the Deaf to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Swafford threw for 96 yards and Witherspoon had 68 yards receiving. Nakia Johnson helped Tennessee School for the Deaf's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
Tennessee School for the Deaf's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Swafford has thrown for 497 yards and one touchdown this season, while Witherspoon has 22 catches for 310 yards. Witherspoon leads the league in rushing with 630 yards.
The marquee game in Mason-Dixon Deaf Football (8 Man) this week will be the clash between the Vikings and South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind. Tennessee School for the Deaf comes into the matchup ranked 11th in the state, while the Hornets ranks 13th.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Daniel Gough's team takes on Louisiana School for the Deaf. The Bulldogs have allowed 46 points this season, while Louisiana School for the Deaf has given up 14. Mississippi School for the Deaf allowed 20 points last week as it bested Chamberlain-Hunt Academy.
