5A Region II District 15 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Lake Travis extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 15 this week by beating Del Valle, 31-6. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Cavaliers.
Bowie took down Akins 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lake Travis' dynamic duo of Baker Mayfield and Grant Foster proved tough for the Cardinals to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mayfield threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns and Foster had 114 yards receiving.
Josh Cleveland was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 165 yards on 26 carries as Del Valle topped Del Valle. Denzel Feaster also contributed to the rushing game with 67 yards on the ground.
The Cavaliers' Mayfield and Varshaun Nixon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Mayfield has thrown for 2318 yards this season, while Nixon has 32 catches for 429 yards. Cleveland from Courtney Wash's team leads the league in rushing with 1194 yards.
Two of the top units in 5A Region II District 15 will face off this week when Lake Travis takes on Westlake. The Cavaliers' offense has recorded 320 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Chaparrals have permitted only 123 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Westlake takes on Lake Travis. Daren Allman's team is in third place, while the Cavaliers are in first place.
