Basketball Game Preview: Algoma Christian Knights vs. West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science Eagles

The Algoma Christian Knights will head out on the road to face off against the West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science Eagles at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Algoma Christian comes in on eight and West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science on three.

Last Friday, Algoma Christian earned a 71-58 victory over Wyoming HomeSchool. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Warrior are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Algoma Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucas Bouma led the charge by going 10 for 15 on his way to 25 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Bouma is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Rhys Kehoe was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science got the win against Heritage Christian Academy on Monday by a conclusive 60-38. West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Algoma Christian pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Algoma Christian took their victory against West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 83-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Algoma Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
