With a playoff game on the line, the Webbers Falls Warriors rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to Welch for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-14 victory on the road. With Webbers Falls ahead 44-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
It was another big night for Maddux Shelby, who rushed for 271 yards and five touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Shelby was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Aiden Turley, who rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Welch's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gage O?neal, who rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown. O?neal hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Mason Clinton was another key contributor, rushing for 86 yards on only 12 carries.
The win makes it two in a row for Webbers Falls and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Welch, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Webbers Falls is on the road again on Friday and play against Weleetka at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Weleetka knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully Webbers Falls likes a good challenge. Welch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
