The Hueneme Vikings's four-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They slipped by Fillmore 49-48. The victory was just what Hueneme needed coming off of a 65-40 loss in their prior game.
Among those leading the charge was Jacob Cunningham, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Chris Juanillo was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six assists and three steals.
Several Flashes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaime Soto, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Soto has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Weslow, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Hueneme's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13. As for Fillmore, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Channel Islands the next time they take the court. Hueneme will head out to face Channel Islands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Fillmore will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
