Softball Recap: Yulee Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Yulee barely beat Hilliard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Yulee's pitcher stepped up to hand Hilliard a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kyleigh Golden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Yulee got a big performance out of Peyton Tharp, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Tharp posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Brooklyn Sawyer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Yulee's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-5-1. As for Hilliard, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Yulee will be taking part in a tournament against Crystal River at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hilliard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence School at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
