The To'hajiilee Warriors have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 42-29 to Cottonwood Classical Prep on Monday. To'hajiilee lost against Cottonwood Classical Prep in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 72-23 score last time.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khyran Guerro, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Jamen Werito, who scored eight points.
Kaedon Petties was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Cottonwood Classical Prep. Bo Lobaina was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
To'hajiilee has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. As for Cottonwood Classical Prep, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. To'hajiilee's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ramah at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Ramah is on a three-game streak of home losses, To'hajiilee a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Cottonwood Classical Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cuba at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Cuba aren't just struggling at home either: they haven't won a game anywhere since January 4th.
