ThunderRidge has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Overland Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, ThunderRidge faced Valor Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. ThunderRidge came out on top against Valor Christian by a score of 62-55. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as ThunderRidge did.
ThunderRidge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tommy Wight, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The game was Wight's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Crawford, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Overland had just enough and edged Denver East out 63-61 on Monday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Overland's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Denver East is ranked fifth).
Overland relied on the efforts of Siraaj Ali, who scored 18 points, and Isreal Littleton, who scored 26 points. Littleton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Aidan Perez was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
ThunderRidge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Overland, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
