South Side has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Plainedge Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. South Side will be strutting in after a victory while Plainedge will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, South Side earned a 33-20 win over Lynbrook. Given South Side's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Lynbrook is ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 33 points the game before, Plainedge were a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They fell to Roosevelt 13-9.
South Side's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points per game. As for Plainedge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
South Side took a serious blow against Plainedge in their previous matchup back in September of 2021, falling 35-0. Can South Side avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
