Baseball Recap: Colony's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Colony dropped their record down to 6-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Wasilla Warriors, falling 16-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Colony saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Carlson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for Wasilla, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Wasilla, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Wasilla's side, Ramon Guzman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Guzman has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 games.

In other batting news, Jimmy Lackey was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Camden Mette was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Looking ahead, Colony will head out to square off against Eagle River at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wasilla, they will be playing at home against Bettye Davis East Anchorage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
