Uintah hasn't had much luck against Bear River recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Utes will head out on the road to take on the Bears at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Uintah gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Wasatch with a sharp 11-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Utes in their matchups with the Wasps: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Addysen Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Lewis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Uintah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bear River faced Logan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bears blew past the Grizzlies 15-5. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Kate Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Kailyn Rice was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Molly Canfield was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Uintah's record is now 7-2-1. As for Bear River, their record now sits at 6-2.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Uintah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Uintah couldn't quite finish off Bear River when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Utes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
