The Northeastern Knights will face off against the Tri Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Northeastern earned a 12-8 victory over Delta. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Hailey Elsrod tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Alexis Russell was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Isabella Peed was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Northeastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Tri had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Ten seems to be a good number for the Titans as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Nobody will forget Ashton Richey's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Wapahani's batters): she turned in a perfect game. Richey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tri let Rylan Mathews and Lyla Williams run wild. Mathews went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith McCrobie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Tri pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season. As for Northeastern, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northeastern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .419. However, it's not like Tri struggles in that department as they've averaged .410. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northeastern skirted past Tri 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
