They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hoopeston/Armstrong 54-16 at home. The high-scoring effort was just what the Comets needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.
Chase Harrison was his usual excellent self, picking up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 51 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Oakwood is 2-1 when Harrison posts two or more receiving touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Jackson Dudley was another key player, throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Oakwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 284 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Meanwhile, Iroquois West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 48-8 defeat at the hands of Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-8.
The victory got Oakwood back to even at 3-3. As for Iroquois West, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
