Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Nash Central's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Nash Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Southern Nash, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Nash Central never let Southern Nash get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Bulldogs have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Nash Central got a great performance from Caleb Cox as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Cox has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tanner Moss and Justin Langley did most of the damage at the plate: Moss scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Langley went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Nash Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Southern Nash now has a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Nash Central will host Wilson Prep at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Wilson Prep will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Nash Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southern Nash, they will head out on the road to square off against Corinth Holders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
