St. Joseph Catholic had lost 13 games straight , but after bumping their record up to 10-16 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Jackson Academy Raiders by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Bruins: when they faced off against the Raiders on Thursday, they had to take a 13-8 loss.
Chad Davidson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Reid Hager and John Dean D'Antonio did most of the damage at the plate: Hager went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while D'Antonio went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
As for Jackson Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Jackson Academy's side, Deuce Jenkins put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Jenkins gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Justin Word led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Landyn Baker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Coming up, St. Joseph Catholic will venture away from home to challenge Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jackson Academy, they will be playing at home against Jackson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
