The Opp Bobcats had to endure a 17-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Daleville with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-41. Opp's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Opp's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cuba Wiggins led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. Wiggins has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dionna Stoudemire, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Opp's victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-15. As for Daleville, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Opp will take on Pike County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Daleville, they will head out on the road to take on New Brockton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
