Baseball Recap: Keyser Comes Up Short

Keyser was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grafton Bearcats. The Golden Tornado were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bearcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Lucas Williamson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Keyser's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Hahn, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Keyser's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Grafton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Keyser has already played their next contest, a 5-1 defeat against Fort Hill on the 31st. As for Grafton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-3 loss against Philip Barbour on the 1st.
