The Nordonia Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Ellet Orangemen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Nordonia has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Ellet will arrive with nine straight victories.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Nordonia and Twinsburg, and Twinsburg kept the tradition alive. The Knights took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Monday. Even if the Knights couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Maddie Nyce stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haydn Paul, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Ellet was able to grind out a solid victory over Medina on Monday, taking the game 9-6.
Rylie Sprouse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grace Norman, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Addison Lipply was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Ellet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.
Ellet pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Nordonia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both Nordonia and Ellet just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Ellet struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
