The Limon Badgers won the last time they faced the Sterling Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Limon enjoyed a cozy 47-29 win over Sterling. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, as Limon did.
Leading Limon to victory were Katelyn Tacha and Jentri Marx. Tacha scored 19 points along with six assists and five steals, while Marx scored 18 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. The match was Tacha's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Humphrey, who scored two points along with six steals.
Despite the defeat, Sterling saw an underclassman step up: Taylor Tonche scored ten points along with eight steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. Grace Petersen was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Limon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Limon will head out on the road to face off against Y at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Y focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. Sterling will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Rangely at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Rangely's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Sterling's offense will have their work cut out for Sterling.
