Basketball Recap: Spearfish Gets the Win

Spearfish lost to Stevens back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Spearfish Spartans slipped by the Stevens Raiders 53-52. The Spartans' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Bennett Kortan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamren Davis, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points.

Spearfish's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Stevens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spearfish will venture away from home to take on Hot Springs at 3:30 p.m. on January 4th. Spearfish is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. As for Stevens, they will square off against Rapid City Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Stevens is facing Rapid City Central at the right time seeing as Rapid City Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
