Jake Carson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Jesse Neupauer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Northwestern Lehigh got a massive performance out of Watson Church, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Church has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brady Krimmel, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Northwestern Lehigh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .425. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Saucon Valley got the win against Catasauqua on Thursday by a conclusive 17-3. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Northwestern Lehigh, Saucon Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Noah Hubert. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Hubert has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Cole Hubert was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Chris Hill was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Northwestern Lehigh pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Saucon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Both Northwestern Lehigh and Saucon Valley just can't seem to miss. Northwestern Lehigh has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Saucon Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northwestern Lehigh came up short against Saucon Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can Northwestern Lehigh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
