Softball Recap: Ellsworth Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Ellsworth waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Traverse City Christian Sabres with a sharp 14-1 win. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

EmmaJo Meier made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ella Meier was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Karli Gutting, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Ellsworth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Traverse City Christian only posted an OBP of .238.

Ellsworth's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Traverse City Christian, they moved to 8-13 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Ellsworth will face off against Mancelona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Traverse City Christian, they will take on Mason County Eastern at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
