Frontenac is 8-2 against Columbus since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Frontenac Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Columbus Titans at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Frontenac is ranked 203rd, while Columbus is ranked 209th).
Frontenac's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-28 walloping at the hands of St. Mary's-Colgan. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Frontenac has scored all season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Columbus gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 56-8 win over Baxter Springs. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-4.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katy Mooney, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Mooney is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Brylie Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Frontenac's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Columbus, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Frontenac strolled past Columbus in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 58-40. Does Frontenac have another victory up their sleeve, or will Columbus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
