The Oberlin The Phoenix were the 71-47 winner over the Black River Pirates when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Oberlin falling 70-55. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Oberlin still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Jones-Smith, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones-Smith has scored all season. Korrie Freeman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Black River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zane Bungard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was John Kray, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Oberlin dropped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Black River, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12.
