The Wakeland Wolverines won the last time they faced the Frisco Raccoons, and things went their way on Friday too. Wakeland managed a 41-36 win over Frisco. Given Wakeland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Frisco is ranked 785th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wakeland found their leader in underclassman Charlotte Cavin, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Cavin hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Chloe Chiniara, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Wakeland pushed their record up to 25-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Frisco, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-23 record this season.
Wakeland will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against The Colony at 5:45 p.m. Hopefully Wakeland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Frisco, they will head out on the road to square off against Reedy at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
