The Haverhill Hillies are taking a road trip to challenge the Andover Golden Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Haverhill comes in on four and Andover on five.
While Haverhill's win against Lowell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hillies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 victory over the Red Raiders on Friday. That's two games straight that the Hillies have won by just one run.
Ava Moscaritolo (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Proia (2027) and Emmy Monrreal (2025) did most of the damage at the plate: Proia (2027) went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Monrreal (2025) went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Monrreal (2025) has snagged this season. Molly Tabb (2025) was another key player, going 3-for-6 with two runs and one RBI.
Haverhill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Andover got themselves on the board against Chelmsford on Sunday, but Chelmsford never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Lions. That's two games straight that the Golden Warriors have won by exactly three runs.
Andover pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Haverhill, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Haverhill came up short against Andover when the teams last played back in April, falling 8-4. Can the Hillies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
