Walker Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the McMinn County Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Walker Valley will be strutting in after a victory while the Cherokees will be coming in after a loss.
Last Monday, Walker Valley was able to grind out a solid win over the Hawks, taking the game 52-45. The win was just what Walker Valley needed coming off of a 73-44 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, McMinn County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 87-52 loss at the hands of Cleveland. While losing is never fun, McMinn County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Blue Raiders are ranked 28th).
The win got Walker Valley back to even at 11-11. As for McMinn County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Walker Valley was able to grind out a solid win over the Cherokees when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 50-39. Does Walker Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cherokees turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
