State College extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-8. They came up short against the Cedar Cliff Colts, falling 14-6. The Little Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Colts earlier this season, when they won 7-6.
State College saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micheal Powell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Jake Hall was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Cedar Cliff, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.
On Cedar Cliff's side, Peyton Price and Michael Boblick made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Price pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Boblick tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Price also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cedar Cliff is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. At bat, Price went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Boblick got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Boblick a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Secrest, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Anastasi, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. State College will take on Mechanicsburg at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Little Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cedar Cliff, they will venture away from home to square off against East Pennsboro at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
