Beaver and Central Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Beaver Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Central Valley Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Beaver had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 75-41 victory over Hopewell at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Beaver has posted against Hopewell since February 20, 2021.
Brady Mayo was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with four steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Beaver's points. Another player making a difference was Ty Butler, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Central Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-41 win over Blackhawk. Given Central Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Blackhawk is ranked 491st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Beaver's record now sits at 8-9. Central Valley's record is now 9-5.
Beaver was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Valley in their previous matchup on January 2nd, winning 67-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Beaver since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
