The Madison-Grant Argylls and the Eastbrook Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Madison-Grant Argylls had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Panthers on the road and fell 70-28. Madison-Grant's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it five in a row.
Despite the loss, Madison-Grant still got an impressive performance from Katie Stowers, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Madison-Grant struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Eastbrook pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
Eastbrook's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Morrison, who scored 20 points along with eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Bustos, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Madison-Grant has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Eastbrook, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season.
Madison-Grant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Eastbrook won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Blackford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
