Baseball Game Preview: Horicon Marshmen vs. Oostburg Flying Dutchmen

The Horicon Marshmen will face off against the Oostburg Flying Dutchmen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Horicon is coming into the game hot, having won their last 17 games.

Horicon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 24-4 margin over Oakfield on Tuesday. Considering the Marshmen have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reed Vorlob made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those five runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ashton Krumholz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max LaBlanc, who went 2-for-5 with four runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Oostburg owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ozaukee with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Flying Dutchmen as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Caeden Steuerwald, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Oostburg: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Levi Mills was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Horicon pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oostburg, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
